There’s no better way to say “I love you” than with peanut butter. Everyone knows the best way to someone’s heart is with food, and there’s nothing better than the ultimate sandwich. This is a jam-packed (literally) monstrosity, but a sandwich nonetheless. How did this happen? In short, I ran out of turkey and was unable to make a turkey sandwich, so I had to improvise. As with all things in life, peanut butter came to the rescue. I knew a single peanut butter and jelly sandwich wasn’t a big enough meal for the Peanut Butter Boy. Two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches could work, but that’s too much bread. So I used my engineering expertise to create this monument, maximizing the peanut butter to bread ratio. You get bonus points if you put peanut butter on the outside of the sandwich too.

Ingredients:Print

Instructions:

Spread the honey roasted Peanut Butter on one slice of bread. Spread the apricot jelly on one side of another slice of bread and put the two slices together. Spread the strawberry jelly on the newly formed sandwich and top with banana slices. Spread the plain peanut butter on the last slice of bread and place on top. Cut in half normally or diagonally if you’re feeling adventurous.

Additional Info:

Get creative with this one. There wasn’t much rhyme or reason to my sandwich except that I wanted every layer to be unique and contribute a different texture. I’d love to see some of your suggestions/creations/pictures for the ultimate double decker peanut butter sandwich.

Nick, I love the use of two different fruit jellies or jams in a double-decker sandwich. That’s a really great idea!

If you are still working on your five pounds of fresh strawberries, I bet sliced strawberries would fit nicely into a peanut-butter-and-banana sandwich.

  7. Erika says:

Woohoo, I figured using the “with peanut butter on top” would work. Thanks for the post. Your sandwich looks so yummy.
As for a variation on the ultimate peanut butter sandwich, have you ever tried PB and pickles? Sounds gross, but tastes freakin awesome. Give it a try sometime… unless you hate pickles. Then just stick with the jelly

I just sent you my all time favorite peanut butter sandwich. It is beyond decadent, but also does have a nutritious aspect to it as well. Having seen this post, I now have to get busy and post it as well. Thanks for the inspiration. Time to get busy. Stay tuned

  21. Jes says:

Peanut butter and banana sandwiches are my favorite food. Have you tried putting apples in pb sandwiches? That’s really delicious too.

I haven’t actually, I always thought it would be too crunchy and ruin the texture. I’ll give it a try in my next one though =) ~ Nick

    I am not worthy!
you are a guru mate…but one thing i do enjoy is a nice gloop of honey or golden syrup over peanut butter..
    *belly rumbles*

    • Nick says:

Oh yes, absolutely. I agree with the belly rumbling – it’s too close to breakfast and too far from lunch right now to be thinking about this….

  23. Acid Cigars says:

I like this except for the double bread. I’d take that out and just go single bread in between your layers.. but bananas and everything else look good!

  24. Crystal says:

YOW! There is nothing like bananas and peanut butter together… Now you put them on a double decker sandwich? Unbelievable! Pretty much the best day ever. Thanks for the gnarly idea!

  25. Noah Young says:

You need at least an inch of peanut butter on both sides of the millde piece of bread.

  26. Hazelnut-o-rama says:

Amazing. Simply amazing. Gonna go make one right now! Might try swirlin’ some Nutella in there somewhere’s… mmmmmm love hazelnut. Possibly season the bread itself with a little honey, then just get out of control with some quality peanut butter of choice… you could just call that a delicious heart attack, but I’ll eat it!

  27. Kyle says:

    Classic!
    Twitter misses you buddy!

  28. Chuck says:

One of those layers needs to be marshmallow fluff!

  29. Hungry Jenny says:

Nick, I love that your substitute for a turkey sandwich is this giant decker of a sarnie – it’s like an optical illusion, you just can’t tell where it starts and ends!

You surprise me with this – I remember a time when you were unable to finish a meal of two slices of bread with peanut butter and banana slices…

    Hungry Jenny x

    • Nick says:

Haha I know, when I first looked at the picture I was very confused!

Oh my, you’re right – I forgot about that! Living up to that name of yours…

  30. Ben says:

Happy PB day! I’m celebrating eating one of these beauties :)

  31. Well, now I know I will have to get to the store to get the ingredients for this recipe. Because my friends are coming over this weekend so I have to make this recipe for them. Thanks soo much for this recipe! :-)

  32. Jude says:

That sandwich is like crack to a peanut butter junkie. Per Jes’ suggestion, apples are delish along with honey mixed with peanut butter with a few chocolate chips. A thick asian style peanut butter sauce is the bomb with leftover stir fried veggies and chicken in a sandwich. As always, enjoy your posts. You are truly the Peanut Butter Buddha.

  33. Vivienne says:

    Nom, Nom, Nom,……

  34. Rogers says:
