I’ve paired peanut butter with some pretty strange things that turned out to be awesome. Such recipes include Peanut Butter with Eggs, Peanut Butter and Tomatoes and of course, Peanut Butter and Buffalo Wing Sauce. Along those lines, I bring you another seemingly-odd combination for the latest Express Eats installation, Peanut Butter and (cold) Cheese. This one was suggested by a reader, and while I was skeptical at first, one bite had me pleasantly surprised. This is a perfect protein-loaded midday snack or appetizer for a formal gathering (sure to start conversation). Be sure to pair the cheese and peanut butter so neither one is stronger in flavor than the other. If you really want to get fancy, sprinkle some sea salt or crumbled bacon on top.

Ingredients:Print

1 cracker
1 tsp peanut butter (natural, with no added sugar)
1 slice mild cheddar cheese (I used 75% RF Cabot)

Directions:

1. Spread peanut butter on cracker.

2. Top with slice of cheese.

3. Eat.

4. Smile.

  1. Ha nice- ever had a peanut butter grilled cheese sandwich?

    • Rachel Eddington says:

Yeah, he’s got a recipe for that on this site, which is why I was curious as to why this is such a new idea for the PB Boy.

PB Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are THA BOMB, btw. ;D

    • Nick says:

She’s right. And I only realized after I posted it. BUT! There is one major difference – the cheese here is cold. Cold cheese and melted cheese are drastically different in my opinion and almost like 2 completely different foods.

Hi! Love your site! I’m trying to find your recipe above for pb and buffalo wing sauce. The link is wrong and goes to http://www.peanutbutterboy.com/spicy-hominy-and-oats/ Please help??

    • Nick says:

Thanks Susie! That’s the one I was referring to! It’s my favorite breakfast and has peanut butter and buffalo wing sauce IN it. Although, I have some ideas to combine the two that I haven’t tried yet, so stay tuned!

pb and cheese is definitely up there in the great pb combinations, and is not really weird at all, after all, they have those keebler cheese and pb sandwich crackers: http://www2.kelloggs.com/ProductDetail.aspx?id=1219

even better than pb and cheese on crackers is pb and cheese on a toasted bagel – the creamy, melty, cheese and pb combination is one not to be missed!

    • Nick says:

That’s a good point. Those cracker sandwich things are delicious. Although the cheese on those crackers never needs refrigeration, which makes me wonder…

Toast bagel, spread with PB, top with slices of cheese? Yum…..

  4. Phil says:

FDA laws allow for an average of 30 insect fragments per 100 grams of peanut butter. In that same half cup of peanut butter, you’ll also find at least one rodent hair (on average). Yum! Now that’s good eating!

  5. Cait says:

interesting! my boyfriend swears by pb&J with cheetos. I have not been brave enough to try that, though!

    • Nick says:

Yikes, PB&J with Cheetos? That’s new to me! I could see it without the jelly, but with? I guess I need to go get a bag of Cheetos.

  6. This is my dirty secret – I have always loved peanut butter and cheese! Add a dab of Hellman’s mayo… omg.
