Ah, the wonders of peanut sauce. There is no better way to have peanut butter with your dinner than peanut sauce. Even people who have no real love for peanut butter, such as my sister (are you sure we’re related sis?), still enjoy a good peanut sauce. This recipe was derived from the one here. The key to peanut sauce is sugar – a lot of it. I generally don’t like things too sweet so I cut it in half and found it to be perfect, but adjust according to your preference. My quest for the ultimate peanut sauce may never be complete but this is the best to date, and also the easiest. It takes only about 5 minutes to prepare and it freezes well.

The Peanut Butter Boy is a quarter-century old today and is celebrating with peanut butter! Today is the last day to get your entry in to The Great Peanut Butter Exhibition #7 – Celebration!

Ingredients:Print

3/4 cup skim or coconut milk
2T (~1oz) red curry paste
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1T white vinegar
1/4 cup water
3T honey, to taste
1/4t salt, to taste
1/4 cup peanuts, chopped (optional)

Directions:

Add all ingredients, except chopped peanuts, to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil while whisking constantly. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add chopped peanuts, if using, and serve.

Oh wow, what an awful way to put it! A half century old?? Ugh, that makes me one year and a half MORE than a quarter century old, ugh. Oh well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And great recipe, I could see myself using this sauce on just about anything.

  3. Gina says:

I meant to say …a QUARTER century old, not a half, you’re not fifty yet, sorry to scare you there.

Happy B-lated birthday! Are you Peanut Butter Man now?

Thanks for the peanut sauce post, I never seem to get it quite right. I appreciate you doing the work for me! I will use this soon.

  8. Happy birthday!! Hope you get to celebrate with insane amounts of PB.

Peanut sauce is so versatile… I sometimes even just dip veggies in it! Lovely recipe here, I’ll try it soon! I’ve never used coconut milk in peanut sauce, but it must add a delicious, mild fruitiness to it :)

I dig the recipe for your peanut sauce and am definitely going to have to try it sometime.

I had a Peanut Butter Boy channeling moment last night when I couldn’t get the right taste to my turkey breast cutlet “marinade.” I was out of teriyaki which is what I was looking for, so I (for some reason unbeknownst to me) grabbed my new jar of Krema Natural Peanut Butter and added it into my sauce. I have to tell you, it was DELICIOUS!!!!

I was wondering when you’d get around to peanut sauce! I feel the same way you do about the never-ending quest for a good peanut sauce, but I did find one that makes me awfully happy, so that has to count for something.

    Happy birthday, Peanut Butter Man!

Thank you! I did a peanut sauce before, for dipping meatballs into. Not sure which one I like better, but this one is darn tasty!

      • Rose-Anne says:

Hee hee! Your first peanut sauce must have slipped under my vegetarian radar. That happens from time to time ;-)

Just curious: what do you use for your red curry paste? I’ve tried the one from Thai Kitchen, and it is so hot it sets my hair on fire.

This sauce looks dangerous…compulsively eatable, not only on a dish but by the spoonful!

  13. She-Fit says:

Interesting that I just found this. I saw a recipe this morning that called for peanut sauce but they didn’t give it to me. This is going in my blog recipe folder. Thanks!

  14. Marta says:

    Me again!
I had an omelet with PB and jam… it was outstanding and I thought you should know about it :)

  15. Happy belated birthday. Thanks for the recipe. PB sauce goes well with so many recipes.

Looks like a great recipe. I’m going to try this for my Gado Gado ..instead of the prefab peanutsauce they sell over here in Holland (which is nothing more than okay). We eat peanutsauce ALOT as it is a regular sauce on French fries over here (try it, its great!).

I’m going to throw in a bit of crushed peanuts in this sauce. I always like a little extra crunch in my peanut sauce.

    • Nick says:

So the Dutch put peanut sauce on their french fries you say? I’m sold! Actually, I used this sauce with Butternut Squash Fries and it was delicious. Let me know how it works out with the french fries and I’ll repost it as a fry dipping sauce!

As for the crushed peanuts, it’s listed as optional in the recipe above but it really shouldn’t be. The crunch makes all the difference!
