Buying store bought hummus; I’m guilty of it. You’re guilty of it too. Hummus is so easy and cheap to make, but who wants to buy tahini? It’s expensive, it can be hard to find, and there aren’t many other uses for it. Save your money, save your time and start making peanut butter hummus. You probably have the ingredients on hand, and it only takes 60 seconds to blend together. It stays fresh for at least a week in the fridge (if you don’t gobble it down first). This recipe makes the perfect basic hummus. Using this recipe as a base, you can make any flavored hummus you can imagine – one of my favorites is roasted jalapeño hummus!

Directions:

1. Add all the ingredients (except paprika) to a food processor or blender and blend until desired consistency is reached. Add water as needed to get a thinner consistency and aid in blending. I like to get the hummus super smooth and creamy, but you can stop it early and omit the water so it’s a coarse/chunky.

2. Spread the hummus onto a plate, drizzle with extra olive oil and sprinkle with paprika. Place a black olive in the middle if desired.
