Peanut Butter Jelly Donut

Jelly donuts are sneaky. If it wasn’t for the pea-sized spot of jelly on the side, you’d never be able to tell the difference between the jelly donut and the gross custard donut sitting next to it in the box. But if you came to my house, you’d find that I’m even sneakier. That donut you see above has been doctored – transforming a delicious donut into a fantastic one. If you haven’t seen the PBJ donut in your local donut shop, it’s because I patented it. But I’m willing to sell the idea, just tell Mr. Dunkin to give me a call, I’ve had my eye on a particular Ferrari for a while now. Read on to see just how delicious this donut is.

Ingredients:

1 Jelly donut
2 Tbsp creamy or crunchy peanut butter
2 Tbsp low-sugar fruit preserves (optional)

Directions:

1. When noone is looking, remove the jelly donut from the box and use a sharp knife to surgically slice it in half lengthwise (so it looks like a hamburger bun). Scoop the jelly out of one half and replace with peanut butter, being sure not to skimp on filling like Mr. Dunkin did. Optionally scoop out the jelly from the other half and replace with some good fruit preserves.

2. Place the two halves back together, the peanut butter will help keep it intact. Attempt to hide the seam as best possible and surreptitiously place the donut back in the box. Your spouse, significant other or child will be delightfully surprised at the explosion of flavor (and boosted nutrition) of my patented PBJ donut, unless they have peanut allergies that is.
