Ireland

Today, I leave for Ireland. Don’t worry, I’ll return. I’m going for 10 days starting in Dublin, driving to the Dingle then back to Dublin while stopping in several cities along the way. It’s perfect timing too – I’m an ethnic mutt but thought that my major ethnicity was 25% Irish. However, I recently found out that I am 37.5% Irish, which calculates out to 3 more pints of Guinness per day that my body requires. For 10 days I’ll be pledging allegiance to the “Green, White and Orange” and getting back to 37.5% of my roots. But what do the colors of the Irish flag represent? I think I’ve uncovered the truth…

The Irish Flag:

Green: It’s easy to see why this color belongs on the flag. Ireland is a beautifully green country.

White: I can see where this color comes from – there are no people prouder of their pale complexions than the Irish!

Orange: Sure, hair tends to be on the orange-red side of the spectrum in Ireland but I believe there’s something more involved and buried within this color on the flag… I think there’s a substance begging to be embraced by the Irish, and I intend to seek it out in all it’s glorious forms:

From my understanding, peanut butter can be found in Ireland but as for uses of peanut butter, all I could dig up was a recipe for Irish Potato Candy, which sounds interesting but appears to be more of an Irish-American creation than a true Ireland tradition. Which is why I propose a new definition for the Irish flag, one that I wholeheartedly salute:

It’s time for Peanut Butter Boy to get to work in Ireland, I’ll report back with any peanut butter findings. Wish me luck!
