Pork tenderloin is one of my favorite cuts of meat. It’s tender, lean and extremely versatile. Whether you grill it covered with a spice mixture, slow cook it in BBQ sauce or bake it in a sweet glaze, it always comes out tender and delicious. Since a pork tenderloin goes so well with everything, I figured there’s no reason it shouldn’t be fantastic with peanut butter. I found the pork recipe in a magazine but paired it with a peanut sauce to make an unbeatable meal. These are better than any chicken fingers I’ve ever had!

Jelly donuts are sneaky. If it wasn’t for the pea-sized spot of jelly on the side, you’d never be able to tell the difference between the jelly donut and the gross custard donut sitting next to it in the box. But if you came to my house, you’d find that I’m even sneakier. That donut you see above has been doctored – transforming a delicious donut into a fantastic one. If you haven’t seen the PBJ donut in your local donut shop, it’s because I patented it. But I’m willing to sell the idea, just tell Mr. Dunkin to give me a call, I’ve had my eye on a particular Ferrari for a while now. Read on to see just how delicious this donut is.

After landing in Dublin we drove our over-priced rental car across the country and back, staying in Athlone, Dingle, Killarney, Kilkenny and Dublin along the way. We stayed in 5 B&B’s, toured 2 breweries (Smithwick’s and Guinness) and saw about 1,000 cows and sheep. I found a new favorite beer, Guinness Foreign Extra, but unfortunately I’ll never have another lest I return to Ireland, Nigeria or the Carribean. Read on for the gory details and the hunt for peanut butter in Ireland.

I’m going for 10 days starting in Dublin, driving to the Dingle then back to Dublin while stopping in several cities along the way. It’s perfect timing too – I’m an ethnic mutt but thought that my major ethnicity was 25% Irish. However, I recently found out that I am 37.5% Irish, which calculates out to 3 more pints of Guinness per day that my body requires. For 10 days I’ll be pledging allegiance to the “Green, White and Orange” and getting back to 37.5% of my roots. But what do the colors of the Irish flag represent? I think I’ve uncovered the truth…

And there’s no place I’d rather live than America, because only in America will you find pancakes as large as a pizza, pizzas the size of a car, and cars as large as an elephant. But above all, America is #1 because we are the home of peanut butter. And it’s because of this fact that there is a neverending supply of different peanut butters for me to review. So thank you America, for being the undisputed champion of grinding legumes into a brown, salty paste. And thank you Justin’s and Naturally More, for sending me some fabulous peanut butter.

I’m glad I’m not a monkey. I could live on bananas, but without peanut butter what’s the point? I have no doubt that a monkey could open a jar of peanut butter but he certainly couldn’t make it. The only option available to the monkey would be to befriend a human. But even if the monkey found a human companion, he would have to deal with an inter-species language barrier and would need to communicate his desire for peanut butter with only “oohs” and “ahhs”. Plus, monkeys eat a lot of bananas which would require a lot of peanut butter and I doubt the human he finds is a millionaire; The human would eventually want compensation – but monkeys don’t have cash or credit, only fleas and feces. No, I don’t want to be a monkey at all. But enjoy my Monkey Sundae.

Nothing pleases me more than sitting down with 10 jars of peanut butter and a spoon to taste and review each one. Sometimes I think that’s what heaven would be like, except you wouldn’t get full and the jars wouldn’t run out. But my spiritual beliefs in peanut butter have yet to enlighten me as to why all the different brands, varieties and flavors of peanut butter that exist in America have yet to spread to the rest of the world. In terms of peanut butter technology, the US is light years ahead. No complaints here except that I’m unable to leave the country for extended periods of time. Now for this round of reviews, I go over some crucial store brands you may have missed as well as some interesting flavored peanut butter from upstate New York.

Tucked away in upstate New York in a small town called Wevertown, there’s a small bed and breakfast called the Dillon Hill Inn. It’s run by an extraordinarily nice couple – the husband is a builder who built most of the furniture and the wife is an excellent cook. Besides baking some outstanding brownies and phenomenal scones, she introduced me to a new dish – baked grapefruit. Her method was simple: cut the grapefruit in half, spread a little butter on top, a sprinkle of brown sugar and cinnamon, then bake until the sugar caramelizes. Top it off with a bright red cherry and you’ve got a gourmet start to your day. The simplicity astounded me and the taste was incredible. Baking the grapefruit helps minimize the bitterness and also makes scooping out the fruit easier. I can’t see a reason to eat a raw grapefruit anymore.
